Docent Training

Are you interested in local history? Do you enjoy learning about historic properties? Do you want to become a docent? We will train you in giving historic tours of the Dole Mansion!

What is a Docent?

Do·cent (noun) 1. a person who acts as a guide, typically on a voluntary basis, in a museum, and art gallery.

What does a docent do?

Docents come from many different backgrounds and experiences. What is most important is to have the love for history, art, music, a love of learning and a love of sharing with others. Lakeside is always looking for new docent volunteers to join the team.

Docents serve as tour guides for private, group, and school tours. As a docent, you will work with groups of 10-30 people from kids to adults. We also offer tours during Lakeside Festival (end of June beginning of July).

*Docent Training Program starting in 2016*
